This is the general procedure for initiating a copyediting project:
- We agree on a framework timeline after I receive as much detail as possible, including stylesheet info and any special concerns.
- Once I've seen a sample file, I provide a quote based on the rate outlined in the prices section.
- Once you accept the quote, I review your text, indicating suggested revisions with MS Word's track changes mode and the notes function.
- You review the file and accept or decline my suggestions.
- Once you're satisfied, I provide the final text file, with all revisions incorporated.
For larger projects and anthologies, it may be advantageous for me to begin work without having received the full text.
The proofreading procedure is largely the same, with the exception that the work begins with either a PDF file or a paper copy, which I will then mark up.
